About Downtown Georgetown

The close-quarters character of Downtown gives it a special feel. It seems slightly concealed from the main roads. People finding their way here for the first time have a sense of discovery. Newcomers accustomed to sprawl are drawn by its sheer compactness… delighted by the sense that they have found an old village in the centre of a developing suburban municipality.

The Town of Halton Hills has been a valuable partner in the preservation and resurgence of Downtown Georgetown through the façade improvement program and other initiatives, removal of parking meters, commitment to expanded library facilities and a new road and redesigned streetscape.

Here is what people are saying about Downtown Georgetown…
June 08 – Just wanted to share some thoughts. We don’t often get to stroll along the main street at our leisure but as we did this evening it struck us how lovely the street looks. The hanging baskets are beautiful and touches such as the benches, the gardens along the median, the new lights etc. have made such a difference. When we got back … we were chatting with folks who also had very nice things to say about the changes that have taken place and how much they enjoy coming to the downtown area. Cheers, Lynn Ruggle

August 08 – On behalf of all the people like ourselves, who so often think it, but never get around to saying so….
How absolutely beautiful our downtown Main Street is this summer. The hanging baskets just seem to set the tone, and along with all the ground plantings, and the newly vamped facade of some of the businesses, it is just such an attractive and welcoming place. The Saturday Market is just like one big party time. Please pass along our thanks to all who have contributed. It is much appreciated.
Sincerely, Dawn and Jack Livingstone, Georgetown

We hope to see you soon in historic Downtown Georgetown!
