Planting the Seeds of Renewal!

For Immediate Release – April 10, 2007
“We (the ReThink Group) have made a commitment to nurturing visionary and strategic leadership, and look forward to working with the Georgetown BIA, who embrace change, visionary planning and ‘grass-roots’ community development”, these are words to grow by! The Georgetown BIA Board of Directors is planting the seeds for growth and is thrilled to announce Rob Lockhart of the ReThink Group will be assisting the Georgetown BIA in Future/Legacy Planning.

Founded in 1979, the RETHINK GROUP works with organizations, municipalities, business and the non-profit sector to help plan and prepare for the future. Working closely with the BIA Board, BIA Business Members, the Town of Halton Hills and interested residents and patrons the ReThink Group will assist Downtown Georgetown to refocus, identify challenges and opportunities, determine the future’s strategy and move pro-actively forward.
Downtown Georgetown is undergoing a major renewal/reconstruction, as many of you are aware, and we are building on this renewal to look forward, to formulate a vision or ‘big picture look ahead’ for the Downtown. The result will be a Strategy that can be used to plan our future. This is our community and as one BIA Business Member recently said, “People have to buy into the community they have moved to, support the local businesses and strengthen the town”. This is why we are looking for a residents and/or patrons of Downtown Georgetown to assist the Georgetown BIA with this Future Planning.
Hand in hand with Future Planning the Georgetown BIA has been developing a Parking Strategy that will be used to determine ‘length of stay’ parking in the Downtown area. This strategy will define areas of short, mid and long term parking. In the next few weeks you will see a ‘temporary’ strategy that will be put in place as we define “Preferred Parking” for our customers as well as Information Sessions for BIA members to get a ‘sneak peak’ at the Parking Strategy. Watch for “Preferred Parking” signs and our new Welcome Mats – Downtown Georgetown is open for business and is putting our customers first!

Downtown Georgetown where there are over 120 businesses to Welcome You!
